Playlist - 8/7/2016

Hi Folks.

For my part of this show I celebrated the 89th anniversary of the historic Bristol Sessions which are are regarded as the "Big Bang of (Commercial) Country Music" because of the discovery of the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers.  We played a tune the Carter Family recorded at the Bristol Sessions followed by a couple more recorded almost exactly 50 years later in the exact same location by the A.L. Phipps Family.  We also played other Bristol Session recordings by J.P. Nestor, Johnson Brothers, and Tenneva Ramblers -- a band Jimmie Rodgers split from about a day before the recordings.

Other great early classics we heard were from Grayson & Whitter, Al Hopkins & His Buckle Busters, Leadbelly, The Prairie Rambers, and Frank Blevins and his Tar Heel Rattlers.

Our classic country segment focused on the year 1959 and included classic songs from Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper, Stonewall Jackson, Billy Grammer, and Faron Young.

Joe Bussard presented his 44th program of Country Classics that spanned the years 1926 to 1952.

We hope you enjoyed the show.  If you like it or have comments, leave them below in the comments section.
