Playlist - 7/31/2016

Hi Folks.

Our last show for July included some notable music from The Callahan Brothers, early 20th century performers from Madison County, North Carolina; Georgia fiddler Clayton McMichen; Bill Carlisle along with his slide guitar playing brother Cliff; Jimmie Davis; Roy Acuff; and the relatively rare recording duo of Burnett & Rutherford.

A wonderful rare recording of Janette Carter (Sara's and A.P.'s daughter) with J. E. Mainer fiddling was in the mix along with several classic country recordings from 1957 and 1958 that included artists like Ferlin Huskey; George Jones; Johnnie & Jack; and the classic Wayne Raney Family song "We Need A Whole Lot More Of Jesus (And A Lot Less Rock And Roll)"

Joe Bussard presented his 43rd program of Country Classics for Red Rooster Party bringing us several 78s from his collection that were very unusual, such as tunes from Marion Underwood; Fiddlin' Powers and Family; Bill Tuttle, and Elder Golden P. Harris.

Tune in next Sunday for another great program of early and classic country music.
